The London office has more than 120 lawyers, including 29 partners and 22 international counsel. Over two thirds of our lawyers are UK-qualified. Our London lawyers work closely with their colleagues in New York, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as with lawyers in our other offices. The London office has an overall count of around 260. 

The London Corporate Finance team is the largest of the firm’s M&A teams outside the US. We are very much at the centre of European, transatlantic and emerging markets investing, advising on a broad range of transactions in the mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and secondaries arenas. We represent strategic, private equity and fund clients and specialise in complex, cross-border, multi-national transactions.

We are growing our London private equity/M&A practice and seeking a Senior England & Wales qualified Corporate/M&A lawyer to join our team. Prior experience of high value M&A transactions is essential and prior exposure to private equity transactions is highly desirable. 

You will be working as part of cross-border and interdisciplinary teams to advise on complex, high-value, cutting edge transactions.   You will be developing relationships with clients and actively engaging in business development and thought leadership initiatives and seeking out opportunities for new work.  You will be drafting legal documents clearly and concisely, creating solutions using legal knowledge and commercial judgement.   You will need to demonstrate that you can thrive in a team with high professional standards and a flexible client-friendly commercial approach.  You will need to demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management and thought leadership.

• Market leading private equity secondaries practice, including leadership in rapidly developing private equity GP-led fund restructuring/asset sales.
• Integrated European practice.
• Extensive experience in complex cross-border transactions.
• Extensive experience in emerging markets from our London office, including India and Africa.
• Industry strengths in consumer & retail, industrials, insurance & financial services, media & telecommunications, natural resources, transportation and aviation.
• Extensive experience representing sovereign wealth funds and national pension plans in private equity type acquisitions.
• Not only do we consistently work with some of private equity’s most renowned names (as evidenced by the matter highlights below), but we act on their largest, most complex deals
