The department

The human resources function at the firm oversees the operational aspects of payroll, employee benefits, performance management and HR policies and procedures. This is in conjunction with driving forward the strategic aspects around general employee wellbeing and retention of talent. 

The position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the HR team of a premier US law firm. This role is all about being an organised team player with sharp attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities
  • Monitor Payroll and HR inboxes on a daily basis
  • Primary contact for all payroll related queries
  • Responsible for liaising with payroll consultants for monthly payroll processing
  • Work with HRIS team and external consultants on payroll configuration updates
  • Responsible for pension administration e.g., opt-in, opt-out, monthly pension upload etc.
  • Liaise with Finance department regarding payroll queries, reporting and reconciliation
  • Primary contact for all HR benefits (medical, dental, GP, Cycle to Work Scheme)                        
  • Work with Senior HR Advisor / Head of HR on annual benefit renewals
  • Assist with new joiner benefit inductions
  • Maintain benefit pages on Firm intranet
  • Assist with annual compensation process
  • Generate and analyse payroll and HR reports
  • Assist HR team with the employee life cycle processes i.e., onboarding, offboarding and change in terms of employment
  • Maintaining HR data in Workday to ensure accuracy
  • Provide payroll training/updates to members of HR team
  • Provide cover for members of HR team when required
  • Undertake ad hoc project work / data audits as required
Skills, experience & qualifications
  • Experience in an HR role within a professional services environment, ideally a law firm
  • Experience of payroll administration via outsourced provider
  • Experience with benefit administration
  • Knowledge of pension processes
  • Good IT Skills (previous knowledge of Workday is preferable)
  • Good understanding of statutory payments
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Good reporting and data analysis skills
  • Organised and responsive with an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines, demonstrating strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and anticipate tasks
  • A team player, with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime as required
